The truth of how this book came about is as follows: I was awakened one night in February of 2019. Nothing like this has ever happened before or since. I was told what I was to do for couples preparing for marriage. I had not been thinking about this topic at all since I had been working with couples preparing for marriage for thirty years at that time. I made note of what I had been told and went back to sleep. It is important to note, this was not a voice I heard in my ears, but something that was presented to my mind. The next morning when I went to prayer, some beautiful thoughts regarding marriage came flooding into my head. I was not thinking about this when I went to prayer, but my mind was filled with the beauty of these thoughts. They would not go away and I saw it as a terrible distraction to prayer, so I apologized to the Lord and told Him I needed to write these things down or I would probably spend the rest of the time in prayer thinking about them. I wrote them down and went back to prayer. No sooner had I settled into prayer, then the next set of beautiful thoughts regarding marriage were filling my mind. Again, I wrote them down so I could get back to prayer, but the same thing happened again. In fact, this occurred every day, with three exceptions, until the last day of February. When the month ended, so did the flooding of my mind with ideas of marriage. When I typed up everything I had written down, it totaled 16 pages of single-spaced notes. I told the Lord this was too much to go over with a couple preparing for marriage. It was then that the idea of writing it all out in book form came to me. As I began to write, new insights would come to help me fill in the areas where it was needed. I must point out that what follows is not a research project.
